Microsoft Windows Me (Millenium Edition) Printer Compatibility and Usage
This document provides details on using Epson printers with this new Operating System.

Ink Jet Printers - All printers are supported with the following limitations

USB Printing Limitiations
Suspend and Hibernate mode are not currently supported by Epson USB printers. Do not allow your computer to enter Suspend or Hibernate mode while printing. Doing so may cause your computer to lock up. Epson is currently working on a solution for this.

If you are unable to check the ink level of your printer the latest USB driver may not have been installed correctly on your system. Please reinstall your printer driver by using the normal setup routine.

If during the install you see the following message "This version of Windows may not be supported" just check OK and the installation will continue normally.

If you stop or cancel printing from the Epson Progress Meter the printer may not eject the paper properly. Power off and back on the printer to eject the paper and return the printer to the ready condition.

Stylus Color 486SXU / 580 / 777 / 880 and 980
It is possible that the Stylus Color 486SXU / 580 / 777 / 880 and 980 Inkjet Printer Drivers may stop responding during installation in Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows ME. This is caused by using an early version printer driver which may conflict with a previous Epson printer driver causing the installation of the new printer to hang. Please download and install the latest driver from our website to avoid this problem. If the lock up occurs, the "Installing Printer Driver" dialog box does not close as normal. If this occurs with the Stylus Color 480SXU and 580 printers, the Status Monitor 3 utility will not be installed and you will not be prompted to install your ink cartridges. If you find that the "Installing Printer Driver" dialog box does not close after 1 minute, use the following procedure to complete the driver installation:

Workaround for Stylus Color 480SXU / 580:

1. To determine if you do have a lock up, Press Ctrl + Alt + Del and examine the EPSON Printer Utility Setup task. If it shows that the task is Not responding, then your installation has locked up. If this is the case procede to step 2 otherwise your installation has not locked up and should complete normally.
2. Highlight the E_SRCV03 task in the task list.
3. Click the "End Task" button to stop the E_SRCV03 task.
4. The installation will install the driver without the Status Monitor 3 utility and the you will not be prompted to install your ink cartridges. Download and install the latest version printer driver for your printer. It will install the newest driver and the Status Monitor 3 utility correctly and will prompt you to install your ink cartridges.
